We survived another year at the Toronto International Boat Show! Every year the show creeps up on us after the holidays, there is always a mad scramble to get posters printed, banners designed and brochures ready. Every year we promise ourselves to get organised in November…and every year it’s the same mad dash. I love being part of the Boat Show, meeting others in the industry, chatting to loyal and potential customers and just being part of the buzz; but when Sunday comes and we are finally all packed up and heading back up north you can feel the immense sigh of relief over the Direct Energy Centre.
This year was our 3rd year having a Summer Water Sports booth and the 3rd year we were involved in running Discover Water Sports in the indoor lake. Our friends at Boarder Pass brought down there System 2.0, which is an electrically run cable that has a ski handle attached to it and can pull a wakeboarder. During the 10 day show we taught over 300 brave souls how to wakeboard. The indoor lake is filled, prior to the show beginning, with water right from toasty warm Lake Ontario, and trust me it does not warm up during the 10 days of the show! I give props to those who came down and hopped into the water to go for a rip!
We were prepared to showcase our Flyboarding during the show, but because of the lake liner, we were only able to do a demonstration on the very last day of the show – and boy did Ashton kill it! We are keeping our fingers crossed to be able to Flyboard everyday next year.
Thanks to everyone involved in organising and everyone who participated in making the Toronto International Boat Show a success.
Ski You Later.
